Time Sensitive

Stowaway, in collaboration with Real-Time, is pleased to present ‘TIME SENSITIVE’, a group exhibition bringing together 15 artists curated by New York-based Tif XB. Please join us for an opening reception January 9th, 2026, from 6–9 pm.
“TIME SENSITIVE is a group exhibition of 15 US and International artists who made time-telling devices within a three week timeframe. Inspired by a one week lamp assignment in art school and Jacquie Meng’s experimental mosaic clocks, this exhibition is not only an examination of our relationship with time, but also instigates an exploration of material and making outside of the artists’ regular practices.
The art world, paradoxically, tends to reward the polished and predictable over the experimental and strange. This fast-paced design object brief was intended to create an opportunity for artists to try something new, rather than play it safe. With this opportunity, artists pursued different directions: the temporality of life and death, a specific time to do something, how to read time, or the practical application of a clock within a piece.
Time is the context we all share. It shapes us, structures our days, and frames every experience. Indifferent, continuous, universal, it remains the one constant that connects us even if we interact and experience it in our own way. (All that being said, now is the time to buy a clock. It’s
urgent!!!) “
